Health fund gives members a chance to cut unwanted reports

As part of a strategy to reduce its administration costs, the Government Employees Health Fund is enlisting the help of its members. The fund has asked members to nominate not to receive a copy of the Annual Report.

More than 1200 responses were received in the first 2 months, showing members are keen to help the fund and the environment. By reducing the number of reports the fund sends, environmental impacts are lessened through reducing paper wastage and unnecessary mailing.

Last year's Annual Report was 68 pages and was mailed out in a plastic wrap. That's a saving of over 84,000 pages (about 8 trees worth) and over 2400 sheets of plastic so far.

The fund will continue to encourage members to choose not to receive their Annual Report and also look at other ways of reducing costs and environmental impact.

Contact the Government Employees Health Fund Communications Manager for more information.
